Mixt Academy Malaysia provides one-to-one online tuition. This means students don’t need to find a tutor in the same part of Penang or arrange travel for every lesson. Families in George Town, Bayan Lepas, Tanjung Bungah, Butterworth or Bukit Mertajam can focus on subject knowledge, curriculum experience and teaching style when choosing a tutor. Removing location from the matching process can be especially useful when a student needs specialist IGCSE, A-Level, IB, or advanced subject support.
Yes, because lessons are online, students can join from Penang Island or mainland areas without the tutor having to travel between locations. We can support enquiries from places such as George Town, Bayan Lepas, Tanjung Tokong, Air Itam, Batu Ferringhi, Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam. The student’s postcode doesn’t determine the match. We look more closely at the subject, curriculum, academic level, current difficulty and suitable lesson times.
Our tutors can support Malaysian and international pathways, subject to tutor availability. These may include KSSR, KSSM, SPM, STPM, UEC, Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel, A-Level, International A-Level and IB. Tell us the exact programme when enquiring. Two students may both request Mathematics tuition but require very different support if one follows SPM and the other studies Cambridge IGCSE. Curriculum details help us match more precisely and keep lesson content relevant.
Yes, Penang has students following several international pathways, so the student’s actual curriculum should guide the tuition rather than a generic international-school programme. Parents can share the examination board, year group, subject, syllabus code (where known), current topics, and upcoming assessments. Worksheets, revision lists and marked school papers can also help. The tutor can then reinforce what the student is currently studying while addressing gaps that may be affecting progress in class or examinations.
Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel qualifications can contain substantial topic overlap, but their specifications, paper structures, assessment objectives and question styles are not identical. Penang students may take either pathway, so asking for an “IGCSE tutor” may not provide enough information. Tell us the exact board and subject when possible. The tutor can then use the appropriate specification, question types and past papers rather than preparing the student for an examination format they will not actually sit.
IB tuition may be available depending on the subject, level and tutor availability. When enquiring, tell us whether the student is following the Diploma Programme and whether the subject is Higher Level or Standard Level where relevant. IB students may need help with difficult concepts, structured problem-solving, school assessments or examination preparation. The exact course matters because “IB Maths” or “IB Science” alone may not identify the content, level or type of support the student actually requires.
Yes, subject to tutor availability. KSSM and SPM students can request support in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, English, Bahasa Melayu, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and other available subjects. Lessons may focus on current schoolwork, weak foundations, chapter tests, trial examinations or final SPM preparation. Sharing recent marks and the chapters currently being taught helps the tutor decide whether the immediate priority is understanding the content, applying it independently, or improving examination technique.
STPM support may be available where we have a tutor with suitable subject and level experience. Families should specify STPM rather than simply requesting a “Form 6 tutor”, because advanced subjects require more specialised teaching. Tell us the subject, current semester or topic and the areas causing difficulty. This is especially important for subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics or other subjects where the level of reasoning and examination technique differs substantially from lower-secondary tuition.
UEC support may be available depending on the subject and current tutor availability. We recommend stating UEC clearly when enquiring rather than grouping it with SPM, IGCSE or another secondary qualification. Students may need help with Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, sciences, languages or other subjects at different stages of the programme. Sharing school materials and current topics can help us understand the expected depth and determine whether an appropriate tutor is available.
The first step should be identifying what has genuinely changed. Students moving from KSSM or another Malaysian pathway may already understand many underlying concepts but encounter different terminology, sequencing, depth or examination styles in IGCSE. A tutor can compare existing knowledge with the new specification and identify which areas genuinely need attention. This prevents the student from unnecessarily relearning familiar content while more important differences in application, interpretation or question technique remain unaddressed.
Sometimes, if the tutor has suitable experience in both subjects at the student’s level and within the student’s curriculum, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics overlap in some foundations, but Add Maths progresses further into areas such as functions, advanced algebra, trigonometry and calculus. Tell us both subjects and the examination programme when enquiring. We can then decide whether one tutor genuinely fits both needs rather than assuming that every Mathematics teacher automatically has the same level of Additional Mathematics experience.
